Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

The Bucket Hat Shop respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

1. Information we collect

  • Order details — your name, email address, shipping address and phone number (if provided).
  • Payment details — card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We do NOT store your full card number, CVC or expiry. We only receive a reference to the payment for order fulfilment.
  • Website usage — basic analytics (pages visited, referring source, general location) via standard web tools such as Google Analytics or PostHog. This data is anonymised where possible.
  • Communications — if you email us, we retain that correspondence to respond and improve our service.

2. How we use your information

  • To process and fulfil your orders.
  • To communicate order confirmations, shipping updates and support responses.
  • To improve our website, products and marketing.
  • To comply with our legal obligations (e.g. tax, consumer law).
  • With your consent, to send occasional email updates about new drops. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your data. We share limited information with a small number of trusted service providers so we can run our business:

  • Stripe — payment processing (subject to Stripe's own privacy terms).
  • Australia Post / courier partners — for shipping and delivery.
  • Hosting & email providers — to keep the website online and to communicate with you.
  • Government authorities — only if required by law.

4. Cookies & tracking

Our site uses cookies to keep the site working (e.g. cart persistence) and to understand how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some site features may not work as expected.

5. Data storage & security

We store your data securely on services located in Australia and other countries where our providers operate. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect it from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. However, no online service is 100% secure — we recommend keeping your account details confidential.

6. Your rights under Australian Privacy law

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it if it is inaccurate, and to request that we delete it (subject to any legal record-keeping obligations). To exercise any of these rights, email admin@thebuckethatshop.com.

7. Marketing communications

We may send occasional emails about new drops and updates only where you have consented (e.g. by ticking a signup box or by making a purchase and opting in). Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping) will still be sent regardless.

8. Children

Our website and products are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted here with the "Last updated" date at the top.
